textiles

  • Types of asbestos & asbestos content: predominantly chrysotile, asbestos content generally 100 %

Asbestos fabrics are primarily used to shield against heat, as they can withstand temperatures of up to 400 °C. As nonwovens or woven fabrics, they were mainly used in furnaces or plants, but also as insulation for pipelines and in fireproof clothing. Visually, asbestos cloth often looks like coarsely woven linen, but there are also many other variations, making it indistinguishable from non-asbestos materials at first glance.

The asbestos content is extremely high, and the fibers are easily soluble. If you find fabrics that obviously have an insulating or even an anti-mold effect, then very special care should be taken.

Typical applications, products: Insulation layer in and around process plants, industrial furnaces, pipes/wires, central-heating boilers; mats against mould growth; sealings in electric devices    In fire kits, fire-proof and protective equipment; in curtains, ironing board covers

Advice on asbestos sampling and shipping

Material samples for testing for asbestos and/or artificial mineral fibers (62.00 € plus VAT)

  • For testing, we require a small, approximately coin-sized, representative piece of the sample material to be tested, which you can take yourself, if possible without creating dust (moisten the sampling point with water).
  • Pack the sample(s) in a freezer bag, sample bag with clip closure or in a film container and send it to us preferably in a padded envelope.
  • An informal letter with your address, date of order, description of the sample(s) and the note 'Testing for asbestos' is sufficient.
  • We will be happy to send you the test report in advance as a PDF file. In this case, please send your e-mail address.

  • In case of fine dust deposits, we will be happy to send you sample holders fitted with conductive adhesive pads in a sturdy transport container free of charge.
